Certification
Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).
The TAESS00019 Assessor skill set consists of the following units of competency:
- TAEASS412 Assess competence
- TAEASS413 Participate in assessment validation
- TAEDES411 Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs

Course Overview
This skill set provides the necessary skills and knowledge for people to conduct assessments and operate without supervision in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, in accordance with the Standards for RTOs. Participants will learn about the VET sector, develop the skills to assess learners through competency-based assessment and participate in pre-assessment and post-assessment validation processes.
Course Outline
This course will cover the following topics:
- An introduction to the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, including the legislative requirements, key stakeholders, and the role VET plays in preparing individuals for successful careers in various industries
- Understanding nationally recognised training products and navigating the National Register of VET
- Planning and preparing to facilitate assessment
- Preparing students for assessment and considerations for reasonable adjustment
- Conducting competency-based assessment
- Assessment of recognition of prior learning (RPL) applications
- Preparing and participating in pre-assessment and post-assessment validation processes

Computer Literacy
This course required a high level of computer literacy. You will access, research, prepare and submit your assessments through the Learning Management System (LMS), Moodle.
You will require access to a computer for the duration of the course. The device must meet the minimum System Requirements of Pinnacle’s e-Learning system. We officially support and recommend modern desktop or laptop computers running Google Chrome web browser. You will also require word processing software - Microsoft Word is highly recommended.
This program is only recommended to those with a strong level of computer literacy.
Practical Assessment Tasks
To undertake the practical assessment task required to complete this course, you will need access to four (4) volunteers to play the roles of your students. These volunteers must be at least 15 years of age and consent to being video recorded for the purposes of assessment.
Participants must
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have at least a Year 12 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
- Have the ability to read and write English. If English is a second language, you will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. Contact us to discuss.
