Course Overview
This course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively perform the roles and responsibilities of a workplace warden and chief warden.
This course is suitable for organisations that require selected staff members to be trained as members of an emergency control organisation.
Participants will learn how to identify themselves as members of an emergency control organisation in both the warden and chief warden roles, respond to a range of emergencies, raise the alarm, evacuate building occupants, and assist with post-incident procedures.
Course Outline
This course covers topics such as:
- Preparing for workplace emergencies
- Communicating, controlling and coordinating workplace emergency procedures
- Identifying and responding to signals and warnings
- Controlling the response to emergency reports, signals and warnings
- Fire, bomb threat, and other emergencies
- Human behaviour in fires and emergency events
- Initiating and controlling the initial emergency response
- Evacuation and assembly principles and procedures
- Workplace fireboards and fire equipment location(s)
- Accounting for all building occupants
- Evacuation reporting
Course Inclusions

- For face-to-face training, we offer practical, hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services instructor with a strong knowledge of relevant legislation and Australian Standards.
Each Trainee Must Provide
Participants must
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
- Have the ability to read and write English
- Arrive in suitable attire, including long pants and closed-in shoes if attending classroom training
For online training, participants must
