Course Details
Certification
This course applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to first aid emergencies, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies.
Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

Course Duration
Our Provide First Aid course is comprised of two components:
- Online learning and assessment (approximately 5 hours - online)
- Face-to-face training and assessment (approximately 8 hours - classroom)

Course Overview
This nationally recognised first aid training course covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to respond to first aid situations involving infants and children and manage patient care until an ambulance or other medical support arrives.
Your Provide First Aid course is comprised of two components:
- Online learning and assessment (approximately 5 hours - online)
- Face-to-face training and assessment (approximately 8 hours - classroom)
Upon enrolment into this course you are required to complete the mandatory theory learning and assessment. This is done online in your own time prior to your face-to-face training day.
Reaccreditation
The Provide First Aid certification remains current for three years, although the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends refreshing CPR skills annually.
Course Outline
The key areas covered by this course include:
- Responsibilities of the first aider
- First aid principles and guidelines
- First aid kits
- Recognising and responding to an emergency situation
- Identifying, assessing and minimising immediate hazards
- Assessing a casualty and the situation
- Obtaining consent from parents and guardians
- Casualty management
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Recognition and treatment of:
- Shock
- Basic wound care and bleeding management
- Burns
- Fractures, sprains and strains
- Acute childhood illnesses
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Poisoning
- Heath conditions
- Stroke and seizure
- Asthma
- Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
- Venomous bites and stings, including the pressure immobilisation technique
- Operating first aid equipment
- Monitoring and responding to a casualty’s condition
- Communicating incident details to emergency services and workplace supervisors
- Communicating incident details to parents and guardians
- Maintaining records and confidentiality
- Psychological impacts on self and others
Course Inclusions
- Access to a leading online learning program built ground-up by industry experts
- Face to face training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services instructor with strong knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards, and first aid techniques

Each Trainee Must Orovide
Participants must
- Have completed the pre-course e-Learning and exam prior to attending the scheduled face-to-face training day
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
- Have the ability to read and write English
- Arrive in suitable attire, including long pants and closed-in shoes.
For the online training component, participants must:
- Use a device that meets the minimum System Requirements of Pinnacle’s e-Learning system (we officially support and recommend modern desktop or laptop computers running Google Chrome web browser). Other personal devices (e.g. phones and tablets) may be compatible, but due to the variety available, we do not officially support these devices.
