Q: What is Pinnacle’s timeline for offering the new BSB41419 qualification?

Face to Face:

  • BSB41415 will be delivered up to 31 January 2021
  • BSB41419 will be delivered from 01 February 2021

Online:

  • BSB41419 will be delivered from 15 December 2020

Q: I commenced my course before 05 December 2020, so how will this change impact me?

A: You will still receive the BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety - this is, and will continue to be recognised as an acceptable, professional qualification. There is no legislative requirement for you to upgrade your qualification, so it is perfectly acceptable to use this qualification in your professional context for the foreseeable future.

Q: My employer wants me to upgrade from BSB41415 Certificate IV to the latest BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. Do I have to do the whole course again?

A: No, You will not have to re-do units you have already completed. You will be eligible for Credit Transfer for any units that you have already completed, however you will be required to complete an upgrade course to gain the newer qualification.

Q: I hold the older BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety - should I upgrade?

A: According to the Vocational Education and Training regulator the BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is superseded by and equivalent to BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (Pinnacle’s current program). This is, in turn, superseded by and equivalent to BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. When considering maintaining your current knowledge and skills, upgrading to the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety could be viewed as valuable professional development.

Q: I want to enrol in the Diploma of Work Health and Safety. Have the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety prerequisite units changed?

A: The prerequisites for completing the Diploma of Work Health and Safety is to hold the following 5 core units from either BSB41412, BSB41415 or BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety:

  1. BSBWHS412 Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws, or
    BSBWHS402A/BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws

  2. BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes, or
    BSBWHS403A/BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes

  3. BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management, or
    BSBWHS404A/BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control

  4. BBSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems, or
    BSBWHS405A/BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems

  5. BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response, or
    BSBWHS406A/BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents

Q: Can I enrol in the Diploma of Work Health and Safety course if I hold BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety qualification?

A: The prerequisite units in the BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety are not all equivalent to BSB41412/BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, so we are unable to accept those. However, please contact our friendly Sales and Service team on 1300 990 810 for information about applying for Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the BSB41412 or BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety core units.
